We were asked by the Bavers to come and view the house. It had been previously decorated with little to no preparation on the woodwork and other surfaces. Decorators had just applied more and more coats of paint to surfaces over the years.
Mr Baver works within the building industry and wanted a quality finish throughout his and Mrs Baver’s property. We came up with a schedule of works and started on the project.
Colleagues undertook the bathroom refurbishment - all working as a team as we started renovation at the top of the house.
The original coving was in a very bad condition. My plasterer then came in and boarded the ceilings in two rooms and re-skimmed. The client had asked for new coving in all the bedrooms, on the top floor and to continue into the hallway.
Darren and his team from Fullbrocks of England came in and fitted new coving in all the top floor bedrooms and hallway. Myself and Shaun worked right through the property completely restoring the woodwork and the ceilings. Considerable effort was put into original features such as the wood shutters and the beautiful staircases.
We then sprayed the ceilings and coving to an emulsion finish before priming woodwork twice then following on with two coats of eggshell. Our colleague and friend, James the wallpaperer, then followed into each room and area papering it with Vescom wide vinyl paper that Mr Baver and I had used on several European projects. Finally we sprayed the kitchen and utility cabinets.
On this project we used primer on the woodwork followed by Little Green eggshell which suits the period of this house. In the kitchen we used Teknos paint. The clients choice of colour provided a fantastic end result.
